The Art of Alchemy

The sense of something magical created by transforming what are often everyday items (mainly food) into something special. Transformation is at the core of my work as Alchemy Photography. My approach is based around a number of principles:

  • Loving Food

really looking at food and presenting it in its best possible form

  • Storytelling

being conscious about the stories I am trying to tell with my food photography

  • Experimentation

bringing in a sense of play & trying out different approaches, this may include ideas from other areas like still life & product photography

  • Practical

helping you take a practical approach to your food photography – you don’t need masses of expensive equipment or a big studio space

  • Sharing

I love to see what you are doing and am happy to share my tips and tricks

  • Learning

every new food shot is an opportunity to learn and develop our photography

Here is a sneak preview of the exciting things I am working on at the moment.
Hope you find something you like!

Dawn and I have been working together since 2013 when she completely transformed the food photography in my business.

She has captured the essence of both moments on training courses and some extremely tough to portray plates of food in such a way that when I saw the results, I wondered if I had been in the same room…a tale effortlessly told.

She takes the time to thoroughly engage with and understand the subject matter to enable her to tell the story beautifully in a photograph. A master of her craft, if you’re looking for a photographer, storyteller and coach who can raise your food styling and image of your business to a completely new level, I can think of no one better than Dawn. I wholeheartedly recommend her.
